Sports Day | Day 300 of 365
It was 'Sports Day' at the academy today - students could wear a team shirt or jersey with blue jeans if they chose. The little K-4 girl on the right wore her uncle's jersey from when he played ball as a child.

Ruffle Scarf - In Progress | Day 297 of 365
Yet another of my craft projects - a ruffle scarf. A friend taught me how to make these, and I've been selling them at the academy where I work.

Fire Safety Gear | Day 292 of 365
The local Fire Department came to the school today to do their annual fire safety demonstration, and I was able to take a little break to get some pictures.

Field Sunset | Day 291 of 365
Yet another photo taken from my car window on the way back to my house after work one evening.
The only editing I did was to sharpen the image a small amount.

Uninvited Guest | Day 289 of 365
If I had a choice, I would always choose to live in the country. But living in the country has it's down sides too, including uninvited guests.
Mom walked into the dining area and found this bright green tree lizard calmly crossing our sand-colored floor.

Ephesians | Day 288 of 365
One of my New Year's resolutions or goals for 2014 was to memorize a book of the Bible, and I decided on Ephesians. It's going slowly, but it's going. Even if I don't actually finish memorizing it this year, I've spent alot of valuable time in this potent little book. Time well spent.

The Fourth Man in the Fire | Day 287 of 365
A minister and his wife came to the academy today to do a 'Chalk Talk' presentation. They did the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo in the fiery furnace (Daniel chapter 3), with the minister telling the story while his wife drew the picture. The kids were awed when the lights were turned off and the black light revealed a representation of Christ in the furnace with the three Hebrew men. Even I, though I've grown up hearing that story, found that it came alive in a different way as I watched.

"Memory" | Day 284 of 365
"Memory" was probably our favorite game when my sister and I were growing up. It's fun to see the students still playing it at the school where I work.
And yes, the kid has stickers on his face.

Yarn Stash | Day 282 of 365
It's such a nice feeling to see a wooden bookshelf full of yarn skeins, just waiting to be made into something fabulous. These are marked for ruffle scarves.

Bargain Buying | Day 280 of 365
If I shop, I look for the bargains. That means my main online stores are places like Amazon or eBay. And getting a package in the mail is always nice.

Bible Story Time | Day 279 of 365
My sister is one of the teachers for the children's classes at her church. She has the perfect heart for it. She never misses an opportunity to make a small person feel special.
Back at the house, after church tonight, she was already practicing next week's lesson on a little visitor.

Happy Lizard | Day 278 of 365
This teacher was trying to make good use of the bus ride on the way back from the Teacher's Clinic in Pensacola. By the time she finished cutting out her approximately six-foot sheet of happy laminated lizards, she laughingly claimed that she never wanted to see another lizard again.

PCA High School Choir | Day 277 of 365
Today was a full day with the Teacher's Clinic at Pensacola Christian Academy. Mid-afternoon when everyone was tired and suffering from information-overload, all the delegates were invited back to the gym for a concert, presented by the music students of PCA. The orchestra performed, the middle school choir, the high school choir, and a quartet. It was a very nice and refreshing break.

Back Bay | Day 276 of 365
I'm on my way to Pensacola, FL, for the Teacher's Clinic at Pensacola Christian Academy, with the teachers from the Christian academy where I am the secretary. The long bus ride has taken us through some beautiful scenery. Especially crossing the back bay of Pascagoula, MS, the little streams meandering between the spreads of tall grass seemed to beg for a kayak and an afternoon of exploration.

Chilly, So, Chili | Day 275 of 365
Recipe for an ideal fall evening:
Cool weather.
Friends.
A bonfire.
Home-made chili in Pyrex bowls.
Hot chocolate in enamel mugs.
A couple of dogs.
Warm quilts.
Small talk.
Satisfied silences.
Blend well for about four hours. If properly mixed with a loving amount of good-will and contentment, this is a no-fail recipe to dissolve stress from the tired body and restore peace to the busy mind.

Tower Clock | Day 274 of 365
After getting off work this afternoon, I took a little trip down memory lane with a visit to the campus where I went to college, though I must admit, it's only because they have the nearest recycling drop-off.
This clock has been added since I've been there. I wonder if I'm the only one who's noticed that at least one of it's four faces doesn't keep time.
The moon was a nice little extra.

Candle Season | Day 273 of 365
Autumn officially starts "candle season" around our place. The tiniest bit of fall coolness in the air calls for candles to be lit around the house. Most specifically, fall-scented candles.

C. B. | Day 272 of 365
It's school pictures week, and thankfully it has gone pretty well so far. This is the first time I've taken yearbook pictures, and/or used some of the more sophisticated/complicated photography equipment. But the kids have been great, and even the little people have done quite well.
