I love to give, and receive, gifts like this. My boss found out that my family makes our own granola and wanted to try it. So I'm taking her a jar of it 'for Christmas'.

White-berry Tree | Day 339 of 365

There is a beautiful bare tree by the highway on my way to and from work. It has nothing on it, save these clusters of three small, pure-white berries.
I have no idea what kind of tree it is, but I do know that I want one for my yard.

Played a scavenger hunt game with my group of kids during youth class tonight at church. One of the items they were supposed to find was a penny from the 1990s.

The Fourth Man in the Fire | Day 287 of 365

A minister and his wife came to the academy today to do a 'Chalk Talk' presentation. They did the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo in the fiery furnace (Daniel chapter 3), with the minister telling the story while his wife drew the picture. The kids were awed when the lights were turned off and the black light revealed a representation of Christ in the furnace with the three Hebrew men. Even I, though I've grown up hearing that story, found that it came alive in a different way as I watched.

PCA High School Choir | Day 277 of 365

Today was a full day with the Teacher's Clinic at Pensacola Christian Academy. Mid-afternoon when everyone was tired and suffering from information-overload, all the delegates were invited back to the gym for a concert, presented by the music students of PCA. The orchestra performed, the middle school choir, the high school choir, and a quartet. It was a very nice and refreshing break.

Chilly, So, Chili | Day 275 of 365

Recipe for an ideal fall evening:

Cool weather.
Friends.
A bonfire.
Home-made chili in Pyrex bowls.
Hot chocolate in enamel mugs.
A couple of dogs.
Warm quilts.
Small talk.
Satisfied silences. 


Blend well for about four hours. If properly mixed with a loving amount of good-will and contentment, this is a no-fail recipe to dissolve stress from the tired body and restore peace to the busy mind.
