Hymnals in B&W | Day 240 of 365

My grandparents' house has been filled with music for as far back as I can remember, both recorded music and sheet music. My grandmother has the largest and most varied hymnal collection I know of. And they have all been well used - well loved.

Show and Tell | Day 238 of 365

One of the funnest things about working at a small school is getting to see all the interesting things the students bring.
My mom used to tell stories about 'dime turtles'. Now I know what she meant!

G. R. | Day 235 of 365

The assistant administrator and principal at the Christian academy where I'm secretary. So classy.

Luxury | Day 234 of 365

Reading is probably my favorite (certainly my oldest) hobby. Nothing says 'luxury' quite like an afternoon on the couch with a book, in front of a sunny window.
I have a goal to read fifty books in 2014, and this one is number thirty - a $1 consignment-shop find.

Watching the World Go By | Day 233 of 365

Found this big guy on the trunk of the car, apparently staring out the garage door while enjoying the shade inside.

Clouds | Day 232 of 365

I stumbled on a blog post recently with tips for candid and lifestyle photographs, and one of the bits of advice that caught my interest was 'shooting from the hip' - literally pointing and shooting without looking through the viewfinder. This technique almost sounded a little silly, but actually turns out some interesting results. I shot this image that way. Driving back to the house after work, I noticed the beautiful cloud formations, rolled down my window, pointed my camera at the sky, and snapped a few photos, with my eyes still on the road.

T. R. | Day 230 of 365

My favorite photos are probably candid ones of people just living life. I'm falling more and more in love with black-and-white. And, for the sake of the 'challenge' part of this 365 project, this photo represents more of my practice with shooting in low light.

Lunch Prep | Day 227 of 365

I went ahead and set out the ingredients (except for milk and eggs) in preparation for making my lunch smoothie for tomorrow. First day of a new job; trying to save steps for the early morning.

Saturday Funnies | Day 226 of 365

Best friends. They are so close, I tease them that they are basically twins. No telling what they are finding so amusing.

Hay Roll | Day 225 of 365

Part of the view across from my house when I got in from work this afternoon. Ah... country life for me!

Kansas City Southern | Day 224 of 365

I am fascinated by trains, and the Kansas City Southern comes through town just about every day. It was coming through this evening as my sister and I were leaving a meeting for my new job at the school. We were on a side road, so I stopped my car, switched on my camera, rolled down my window, and got a couple of pictures. When I put my camera down, I realized the engineer was watching, and looking very amused. I just smiled and waved.

Desk Job | Day 222 of 365

Monday morning I'll be taking a new job as secretary of the Christian academy in the town where I live. I am very excited, though a little nervous as well.
I'm at the school today for meetings, training, to organize and get settled into my new area, etc. This is what my desk looks like now. Hopefully, it will display a drastic improvement by Monday.

Beading | Day 221 of 365

When my sister and I went to Trinidad a couple of years ago, one of the other ladies in the group had a simple beaded necklace she wore, slightly longer than choker style. The idea has been in the back of my mind ever since, so today I pulled out my beading supplies to try to make a similar one. We'll see how it turns out.

Coffee With Cream | Day 220 of 365

My mother is a habitual coffee drinker. And as if that wasn't bad enough, a couple of years ago she discovered the International Delights brand creamer. French Vanilla, to be exact. Now she can't have her coffee without her fancy creamer too. Heart attack in a mug.

My Sister's Guitar | Day 219 of 365

My sister has been taking guitar lessons for about six months now (a Christmas present from Dad and Mom) and has really done well. I'm sure one reason for her success with it is the fact that she practices constantly.

Birthday Cake | Day 214 of 365

Dad's favorite cake is Red Velvet, with Mom's perfect cream cheese icing. So, that's what Mom made him this year. Happy birthday Dad.

Wind Chimes | Day 213 of 365

It's been raining here for the past several days. There've been a few mild thunderstorms, but mostly it's just been a soft, misty, dreamy drizzle, and a gentle breeze that keeps the chimes on the front porch tinkling.

Fresh Bread and Butter | Day 212 of 365

One of my visiting cousins made fresh butter this morning and my sister made wheat rolls. It was so novel, and so delicious. Both the bread and the butter were a huge success, and were nearly finished off at lunch.

Crochet Doily - Start | Day 211 of 365

Had some cousins over for a 'craft day' today, and I got a good bit accomplished on a crochet doily I've been working on.

Note: Originally, I was not going to do captions/descriptions for the photos of this 365 challenge, but now, over half-way through it, I've decided to change that. I'll probably be working backwards on previous posts as well.
