Fuzzy Red Flowers | Day 271 of 365

These fuzzy red blooms were left over from a fall arrangement at the school, and I gladly inherited them for my family's dining table.

Study | Day 268 of 365

I enjoyed a rare few minutes outside on the front porch today, getting a little studying and reading done, and breathing a little of the delicious fresh air.

Three Mugs | Day 266 of 365

Three special mugs of my grandfather's that grace my grandparents' mantle.
The first one is from their youngest son, bought during a family visit to the WWII Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. My grandfather is a WWII vet.
The middle one was a gift from a member of that same son's church in Santiago, Chile, where my uncle is a missionary. The church member was part of an elite team that went on a scientific trip to Antarctica. Each team member received one of these limited, commemorative mugs. When my uncle's family was going to come back to the States for a visit, the man wanted to send a gift to my uncle's father, whom he has never met, but who he loves and respects through hearing my uncle speak of him. The man decided his commemorative mug was about as unique and distinguished a gift as he could send.
The third is an antique shaving mug. I believe it also was a gift, but I am ashamed to say I don't remember it's full story.

Soar Like a Child | Day 265 of 365

Today was "See You At The Pole" and, during the singing before the student-led prayers, I caught a sweet 5-year-old worshiping the Lord in her own little way, about to soar away on the music.

Sundown and a Staircase | Day 264 of 365

Really hoping that sometime soon I will get to use these stairs in a portrait shoot.

Sunday Night Supper | Day 262 of 365

A bag of microwave popcorn is usually supper on Sunday nights after getting in from church. It's quick and easy, light, and tasty. And it can be eaten sitting in the living room with the family and a movie.

County Fair Rooster | Day 261 of 365

I've been so busy this week that it wasn't until today, the last day of the county fair, I finally got a chance to walk through the livestock barn.
This little banty was one of the entries in the "Prettiest Rooster" contest.

Wedding Album | Day 260 of 365

My sister and I were in a friend's wedding last year, but because of the busy-ness of life, still hadn't gotten to see the pictures. This evening, our friend came to visit and brought her album.

County Fair Quilt | Day 259 of 365

This week a fall nip has begun to be noticeable in the air and, appropriately enough, it's County Fair week as well.
Some people go to the fair for the rides and the candy, but my family goes for the craft and livestock exhibits.
Some of my favorites are the quilts. Quilts just seem to embody the idea of old-fashioned, hard-working honesty and family values.

Building Blocks | Day 257 of 365

What child doesn't love brightly-colored wooden blocks just their size? For that matter, what adult can resist tiny bright-colored wooden blocks?
I played baby-sitter for a few minutes at work this morning, and it was hard to keep myself from getting down on the floor to build with her!

Mansion Gate | Day 256 of 365

I pass this gate on my way to work everyday, and it makes me think of some old-English garden, with a mansion beyond, and an adventure waiting.
I was doing a drive-by and there was a car behind me, so I didn't get the crest on the gate. Bummer.

Last Flowers of Summer | Day 254 of 365

The mornings have held a hint of coolness for the past several weeks, but this morning the cool stayed. The whole day there was a refreshing hint of fall in the tiny breezes that cooled the sunshine.
The crepe myrtle trees are beginning to bloom one more time as autumn comes on.

Umbrella Quilt | Day 252 of 365

The deadline to turn in exhibits for the county fair was this evening. I love rain, and this peek at an umbrella quilt caught my attention as I browsed among the entries.

Stuck Inside | Day 249 of 365

Rainy days are definitely a little difficult for the after-school students - they've been inside all day and just want to go out to the playground. And the workers also enjoy clear days where the kids are able to be outside and work off pent-up energy!
Today was a rainy day, but thankfully the students were very well-behaved, content to amuse themselves watching the rain outside and the drops racing each other down the glass door.

Snack Time | Day 248 of 365

My sister and I worked in our church's nursery today. I think the moment I snapped this photo was just about the only one that this little ginger doll wasn't smiling from ear to ear. Maybe she was worried she wasn't going to get her snack.
